The key to a successful summer is the quality of the staff. Maintaining a beautiful facility and implementing a dynamic program is only meaningful if our staff supports the mission of providing a safe and caring environment for our campers.

We understand how difficult it can be for parents to entrust their child to another’s care. As a result, we consider the selection of our staff to be our most important responsibility as directors.

Our Staff: Who We Hire

At Perlman Camp, we seek mature, compassionate, and responsible individuals who are dedicated to helping every camper succeed. Our staff love working with kids, enjoy being outdoors, and aren’t afraid to get a little silly—because that’s what camp is all about!

The majority of our counselors are Perlman alumni, many of whom have completed our two-year Teen Leadership program. We also welcome talented staff from around the world, including Israel, Australia, England, and beyond. All counselors must be high school graduates, though many return year after year while attending college. Our Leadership Team of supervisors are all at least 21 years old, and many are teachers or parents themselves, bringing experience, insight, and care to their roles.

Every staff candidate undergoes a thorough hiring process, including a written application, phone, zoom or in-person interview, reference checks, and a comprehensive background check. Prior to arrival, all staff complete CampSafe child abuse prevention training, ensuring they are prepared to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for every camper.
