Introducing Our New History Exhibit
[Marc Altman here, introducing a post from guest blogger and alumni Bruce Bleiweis. Many thanks to Bruce and the rest of the History Committee for their hard work creating an amazing History Exhibit!]
The History Committee has been hard at work this year to help add to the enjoyment of this Summer’s 62nd Anniversary reunion by providing the Perlman community a lasting exhibit of the 62 year history of camp. Earlier this year the committee got together on conference calls plus two in-person meetings in Maryland at which time the exhibit ideas were planned.
Six committee members met at camp on the weekend of July 8th through 10th. During the weekend at camp the committee framed more than a 150 printed photos gathered from many alumni and arranged and install them into decade displays on the walls of the A-Lodge. In addition to the photos, other displays were created and hung that include other camp memorabilia (e.g., daily schedule, camp show programs, brochures, etc).
The weekend was not all work however as the six long-time friends (whose tenures at camp extend over almost every camp decade) enjoyed a wonderful Friday night Shabbat experience together including menorah lighting, dinner (wow what a meal – kudos Chef Jeff!), Israeli dancing and a late night Oneg hanging out in the renovated A-Lodge.
Camp, including the renovations, looks great and the kids all looked like they are having a wonderful summer!
The committee efforts are not complete yet. We hope that the exhibits created spur more alumni to come forward with additional pictures, especially form the decades of the 90’s and beyond! Please contact Lori Skolnick if you have photos or artifacts from your time at camp that we can add to the exhibit.
