January/February 2012 Newsletter

A Note from the Director...

Hello Perlman Camp Community!

I hope this Newsletter finds you nice and warm, and that everyone's new year is off to a great start.

We have been hard at work to make sure that the 2012 summer is our best one yet. Earlier this month, the Ropes Course received a complete makeover. These improvements are going to take the Outdoor Adventure Program to an entirely new level, and we can't wait for everyone to experience them!

Stay Tuned for announcements of even more enhancements to Perlman Camp

Registrations continue to roll in every day, and bunks of all age groups are filling up fast. If you haven't already, be sure to fill out our online registration application and reserve your spot today!

Staff hiring is in full swing, and we are assembling a dynamic group of counselors and specialists. I just returned from a successful trip across the pond to England, and Rachel is currently down under in Australia at another staff fair. We are very excited with the way our 2012 team is coming together!

We know the cold temperatures can make it difficult to think about summer, but the start of camp will be here before you know it. In the meantime, be sure to stay connected to Perlman through our Facebook page and www.perlmancamp.org.

Only 149 days until the first day of camp!

Shabbat Shalom,

Lewis

Outdoor Adventure News!

We told you improvements to the Ropes Course were coming, and now they're here! We've added to high elements to the climbing wall. Now you can walk along a giant log 40 feet up in the air. We've also added a bridge challenge to conquer once you've reached the top.

We've also added a new element to the Giant Swing, as well. Now, you can walk directly out to the Giant Swing on the extremely fun and challenging bridge connector. We're so excited for everyone to get up to Camp to try these new elements.

More additions to come...

Ambassador Family Program

There is no better recruiter for Perlman Camp than you - our current and past Perlman families. You know what the Perlman experience has done for your children, so you know what it can do for someone else's.

So if you know of anyone who might be interested in Perlman, now is the time to become an Ambassador Family. As an Ambassador Family, you would host an open house for these prospective campers and their families, and one of our directors would attend to show the promotional DVD and answer any questions. It's a very comfortable, intimate setting that allows potential families to truly get a feel for what Perlman has to offer.

If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador Family, please contact Lewis at lewis@perlmancamp.org.

Register Today!

As mentioned before, our registration numbers are soaring, with more and more applications being submitted each day. We want you to be a part of what is shaping up to be a great summer, so if you haven't already, please be sure to complete the online registration form here.

Don't miss out!

2011 Summer Yearbook DVD

All families from this past summer should have received the 2011 Summer Yearbook DVD. If you did not receive your copy, please notify Brent at brent@perlmancamp.org, and a DVD will be sent out to you immediately.

November 2011 Newsletter

Hello Perlman Community,

I hope this newsletter finds you all doing extremely well! Now that winter has kicked off early...it's time to get in touch!

There are many exciting things happening with Perlman Camp during this offseason. Just to mention a few: the interactions of our Perlman Camp community have increased (thanks for sending us pictures and we will post them soon), we're excited to be inviting our Pios of 1972 back to Perlman Camp for their 40Year Reunion, and we've been bringing in a lot of new families. Stay tuned for upcoming facility enhancements to Perlman Camp...that's a separate e-news.

Registration continues to increase and we anticipate that we will beat last year's records. We look forward to continuing a strong and steady increase in our enrollment.

We are offering a brand new incentive to B'nai B'rith Perlman Camp families. The iPerlman Incentive is a raffle! Each camper that enrolls and pays a deposit between now and November 30th, will be entered to win a free iPod Touch!  If you've already enrolled, you will be automatically entered in to the raffle as well. We will be notifying the camper that receives the iPod touch during the first week of December.

Meet our New Assistant Director!

Please join me in welcoming Rachel Levine as the new Assistant Director of Programming for Perlman Camp.

Rachel is the newest member of our Perlman Camp Family. Rachel spent the last five years working as the Program Director for BBYO in the Maryland area. She is not a stranger to Perlman Camp as she attended many of the BBYO Summer Programs that are held at Camp, both as a staff member and as a participant. Rachel received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University in NY. She grew up in southern California and spent 10 incredible summers at Camp JCA Shalom in Malibu. Rachel currently lives in Maryland with her husband, Brad, and their dog, Duke. She can't wait to share her love of programming and Jewish camping with the Perlman team. Rachel's enthusiasm and experience will help us to continue to grow our Camp program.

For those of you who may not have heard, Phil Liebson resigned in August to pursue another position within the Jewish communal field. We thank Phil for all of his hard work and wish him much success in his new endeavors.

October 2010 Newsletter

Dear Perlman Camp Community,

First and foremost, a L'Shana Tova to you and your families. May you have a sweet and successful New Year!

School is in session, the leaves are changing, and sadly, all the lake toys at Camp have been packed away for over a month.  It's time to refocus our energy to the other 10 months of the year before the Summer of 2011 is here.  Don't worry...it will be here soon.

I wanted to make sure that everyone knows to register for Summer 2011. Perlman Camp is experiencing a rush of new campers. Please read on in the newsletter, as the Early Bird date is rapidly approaching  and I don't want families to miss out on the discount. Click here to sign up online.

The Ambassador Family Tour (more details below) will begin soon. We are still looking for a few extra families, so if you are interested in helping us recruit for next summer, please let me know ASAP.

Again, L'Shana Tova to you and your families!

My best,

Lewis

Registration for 2011 is off and running!

We already have an more registrations for the Summer of 2011 than we did at this point for the Summer of 2010. We had an incredible, record-breaking number of tours this summer, and those campers are joining our community. The younger division bunks are filling up fast, so it is very important that you save your spot for the Summer of 2011. You can do this by registering online today!

Our best sales and marketers are our current and past Perlman families!  We are looking for families to get involved in our Ambassador Family program. To participate as an Ambassador family you would agree to host an open house for potential campers and their families.  One of the directors will attend the open house to show the promotional DVD and answer questions.  But the real recruitment effort is from parent-to-parent conversations and camper-to-camper enthusiasm.  Of course, there are benefits to becoming an Ambassador Family.  If you would like to get more information, please contact Lewis by phone or email.  Join this group and be an integral part of Perlman Camp 2011.
