staff

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation from Georgia Southern University and has been working in the camping industry for over 20 years. His experience covers both day and overnight camps in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Joe met his wife Robin at Blue Star Camps during the summer of 1993 and moved to the Washington DC area that fall. He worked for the Prince Georges County School System and later, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. His volunteer work with BBYO encouraged him to become more active in the Jewish community and his strong belief in the benefits of Jewish overnight camping led him to accept a position with Capital Camps, where he worked as the Associate Director for 6 years. Joe enjoys playing golf, cards and softball, watching movies and traveling. Joe and Robin live in Germantown, Maryland with their daughters Lindsay and Sarah - both of whom are proud Perlman campers!

Registrar, Robin Finkelstein

Robin Finkelstein

Although many Perlman Camp families and staff know her as “Joe’s Wife,” Robin has earned her position in the camping industry through a Degree in Recreation Program Planning from the University of Maryland and professional positions with various day and overnight camps, as well as the Maryland Recreation and Park Association, the City of Rockville Department of Recreation and Parks, the JCC of Greater Baltimore and the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks. Over the years, she has held several part-time positions with non-profit organizations. She was an Exhibit Hall Manager for the International Association of Fire Chiefs for several years before deciding to return full-time to camping – making her husband and children extremely happy!

Philadelphia Area Recruiter, Gail Sternberg

Gail Sternberg

Gail achieved a Bachelor Degree in Journalism from Temple University and attended continuing education courses at University of Pennsylvania. She and her sons, Elan and Ben, have been enjoying camp life since the summer of 2003. Gail believes that the Jewish Camp experience is vital in molding Jewish identities. She has played an integral part in the recent success of Perlman Camp through her roles as Girls Unit Leader, Assistant Head Counselor, Canteen Director and Support Program Coordinator. Her passion for Jewish camping and education has inspired her to serve as a Board member of Orot and a key volunteer for Perelman Jewish Day School, Saligman Middle School and JJBL (Jewish Junior Basketball League) in Elkins Park, PA. Currently, Gail works for the Cheltenham School District and is Perlman Camp's Philadelphia Area Recruiter during the off season. Additionally, Gail's diverse background as a Senior Sales Representative for top radio stations in the Philadelphia area and as Director of Development for Orot, an organization for children with special needs has developed her expertise in a myriad of ways. She enjoys gardening, exercising, reading, cooking, family and friends. Her wish is that the Perlman Camp experience will be the gift for others that it has been for her family.
