How Will My Child Get to Camp?

The first day of camp is an exciting start to the summer. We want to make sure that your camper arrives to a welcoming staff member and starts developing relationships from the moment they arrive. There are three different ways to come to and from camp:

  • On a Bus from one of our five Bus Locations
  • In a Car that’s driven by a family member or friend
  • On a Plane to Newark Airport

Driving to Camp

Campers who arrive at camp by car will be introduced to their counselors and jump right into camp! We feel it is essential that campers move directly into the camp program upon arrival, and therefore, parents who drop their children off at camp will say goodbye at the main office. Parents are welcome to speak with members of our camp Leadership Team, and may request a camp tour at this time.

  • Drop off is between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm on the first day of the session.
  • Pick up on the last day of the session is between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.

For directions to camp please check out our directions page.

Flight Information

We understand and appreciate that by choosing Perlman Camp for your child, many parents are making a decision to send your child a great distance. The partnership between parents and camp is essential in ensuring that everyone has a safe, positive summer experience. We are committed to working with your family to make getting to and from camp as safe and easy as possible.

If flying into Newark your child will be met at the gate. You must provide the airline with the name and contact information for the Perlman staff member meeting the flight so that we can get our staff through security.

When making your reservation, call your airline and tell them a “Perlman staff member” will be meeting the flight. You can then call later and provide specifics.

Arrival and Departure Times

Your child’s flight should be scheduled to arrive at Newark on the first day of the session (June 25 or July 23) and leaving on the last day (July 21 or August 11) between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Luggage Trucks/Door-to-Door Luggage Service

Perlman Camp has partnered with Camp Trunk Delivery to provide luggage service for our camp families. Campers arriving at camp by bus will have the option to bring their luggage to the bus stop on the first day of camp, or may choose to send it ahead of time.

Option 1 – Bus Stop (No Additional Charge)

  • Campers should bring their luggage to the bus stop on the first day of the session. Luggage will be tagged and placed on trucks to be driven to camp. At camp, your child’s luggage will be placed in a central location on Boys Side or Girls Side. Counselors will help campers bring their luggage into the bunk. Please make sure that all bags are clearly labeled with your child’s first AND last name. Plastic drawers should be securely taped shut and labeled. Small items should be placed in bags – no loose items will be permitted on the luggage trucks.

Option 2 – Door-to-Door Service (Additional Fee)

  • If you are flying to camp, or traveling by bus but prefer door-to-door service, you may arrange for your luggage to be picked up at your home and delivered to your child’s bunk at camp. Parents who are interested in this service will find details in our Parent Packet, and can register here.

Option 3 – Mail/UPS/FedEx (Shipping Cost)

  • If you choose to send your child’s luggage by mail prior to camp, please allow two weeks for delivery. Be sure that you mark the luggage outside and include a card inside with your camper’s name and address. Please contact our office with your tracking information once you have sent your luggage.
